Swansea chairman Jenkins: Man Utd should follow our lead

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins believes they have something to teachManchester United.
Jenkins believes debt-free Swansea are now the envy ofManchester United because of the club’s supporter-owned model – the first Premier League club where fans have a direct ownership.
The Supporters Trust have a sizeable 19.9 per cent stake of the club and Jenkins believes their structure is a blueprint for the fans at Old Trafford and beyond to follow. He said: “We are very lucky we have a structure I’d imagine the majority of football clubs and true supporters in the Premier League would love to have and could only wish for.
“Clubs like United have a supporters body trying to find ways of changing how the club is run and how they can invest in the club. In a lot of clubs, it’s never going to happen but I think we are a blueprint. The way we are run has worked well and, when others see how we do it, secretly they would like us to do very well.
“If we can work our way to the top by doing what we do then it will give everyone else in football a genuine lift. It will show that you don’t need a billionaire owner chucking money around and distorting fairness.”
