Lindegaard said: “I got a stamp on my ankle at the start of the match on Saturday and should have come off.

“I chose to carry on and paid the price. And although I have to sit on the couch with my leg up now, it was incredibly important to me to play.

“The medical staff at United believe that the earliest I could train again is next week.”

Ex-Man Utd star Beckham flattered by PSG link but happy in LA

Thu, 10/06/2011

David Beckham admits he is flattered at being linked with French giants Paris Saint-Germain but insists he is happy at LA Galaxy.

The 36-year old former Manchester United and Real Madrid star has emerged as a target for PSG sporting director Leonardo, who coached him during his loan spell at AC Milan.

Beckham’s contract with the Galaxy expires at the end of the current MLS season and although he says the prospect of moving to France is appealing, he is yet to weigh up his future with his family.

"I had a good relationship with him when I was in Milan the first time and also when he was manager the second time,” he told sports.fr.

"He's a great sporting director and a wonderful person. I'm flattered that he wants me to come join him and the team in Paris, but I'm a Galaxy player, I live in Los Angeles, I am happy there and I play for them.

"There are great things happening in France at several clubs, but it's an exciting time for PSG... Leonardo joining them, the money the club has, so it's an interesting club."

He added: “This (the family) is the number one priority, family comes first and where they are happy is where I stay, it's that simple.

"My children go to school in LA and have done for five years. They are at the age where stability is important, so we'll see. I always said I will wait until the end of the season, see how I feel physically and then decide.

"There is no urgency on my part obviously. It is important that I focus on the rest of the season.

"We should make the play-offs, we still have two matches to go and I will focus on the season and worry about the rest later."

Man Utd boss Ferguson: Scholes could be as good as Queiroz

Thu, 10/06/2011

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson feels Paul Scholes has the same qualities as Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz.

Fergie says he has the skills to be “a thinking man’s coach” like his former No 2 Queiroz.

“I see a bright future for him as a coach and there’ll always be a place for him withManchester United,” said the United manager.

“He’s doing his badges and one day I think he’ll be excellent.

“Quiet ones like Scholesy have got a big advantage over more demonstrative personalities because they tend to take a step back and so see everything.

“He won’t be the bouncy, demanding kind of coach like Archie Knox or Steve McClaren. He’ll be more of a thinking man’s coach like Carlos Queiroz, maybe doing things with individual players.”

Man Utd legend Scholes casts doubt on long-term coaching career

Thu, 10/06/2011

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes is unsure if he will stick to his new coaching career.

Scholes, 36, retired in the summer after a glittering 20-year career with United because he felt he was no longer playing well enough, and is obviously prepared to be as hard-nosed about coaching.

“I’ve joined in with Warren Joyce, who runs the reserves,” he said. “He’s been looking after me, showing me the ropes, and I’ve mainly been training with them so far, just giving bits of advice where I see the need.

“I’ve started my badges - whether I finish them is another question.

“I haven’t made my mind up about coaching. I’ve only been doing it for two or three weeks now. If I feel I can succeed and be half decent, I’ll carry on.

“If I feel I don’t think it’s the thing for me and I won’t be any good at it, I won’t pursue it. I don’t want to be just average at it.”

Dunn urges Blackburn to be united

Thu, 10/06/2011

David Dunn has called for everyone connected to Blackburn Rovers to show a united front.

Dunn believes everyone involved with Rovers needs to show a united front as they battle to turn their season around and climb out of the drop zone.

"Let's be a little bit more realistic. Of course we want to beat Manchester City, Manchester United and the top teams," he told Sky Sports News.

"But at times it is very difficult, certainly with the gulf that seems to be appearing in the Premier League. Of course we are going to try and compete in every game.

"Not for one minute am I having a go at the fans for booing - everyone is entitled to their opinion. It's the first time I've seen that inside the ground - so hostile towards individuals.

"What I want to see as a Blackburn fan is if we are going to be the underdogs, let's be the underdogs together."

Berbatov has stated more than once that he will quit Manchester United in the next transfer window unless the champions hand him a new deal.

Montenegro coach writes off chances if Man Utd striker Rooney fit

Tue, 10/04/2011

Montenegro feel they have no chance against Euro qualifying opponents England ifManchester United striker Wayne Rooney is fit.

Montenegro’s new coach Branko Brnovic believes that as long as talismanic striker Rooney is fit, it will be all but a formality.

“They will come for three points but I hope Wayne Rooney doesn’t play,” he said.

“He is a magnificent player, one of the best in the world. And it will be almost a mission impossible to stop him.”

Ferguson convinced Rooney will be greatest Man Utd goalscorer

Tue, 10/04/2011

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes Wayne Rooney can become the club's greatest ever goal scorer.

Sir Bobby Charlton's haul of 249 goals has stood for almost 40 years, but United boss Ferguson reckons Rooney - currently on 156 - has what it takes to break it and rewrite the record books.

Asked if Rooney could break Charlton's record, Ferguson said: "Wayne is only 25 years of age, so you'd think he has at least another five years in him at the very top level.

"And, if he looks after himself like Ryan Giggs [has], he could play well into his 30s, so the opportunity's there for him. Time is on his side.

"He's raced out of the blocks already this season and I hope he could get up around the 30 mark [for goals this season]."

Man Utd striker Rooney says Premier League remains his priority

Tue, 10/04/2011

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney says winning the Premier League is the priority.

Rooney wants his fifth League winner's medal this season.

"For us, we look at the trophies and the competitions we are in and it's so difficult to compete in all of them. You need to be realistic and look to win one or two," Rooney told the Sky Sports News Special Report.

"For me personally, I would like to win the Premier League again because it's such a great feeling to win that. But then we want to do well in the Champions League as well, maybe get to the final and see what happens."

Man Utd boss Ferguson: Man City clash now not just about football

Tue, 10/04/2011

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson insists he isn't surprised by Manchester City's impressive start to the season.

The two clubs meet later this month in the first derby of the season.

"I've said all along that would happen," Ferguson told Inside United.

"They are a good team and they were always going to be there or thereabouts.

"Sergio Aguero was bound to do well, coming into the Premier League, because he is such a goal threat around the penalty box. David Silva is also a very good player.

"We just have to make sure we are ready for City when we meet them."

Previously, Ferguson has cheekily suggested Liverpool were United's true derby rivals.

Sheikh Mansour's £1billion investment in City has changed all that, with the plethora of stars working under the guidance of Roberto Mancini bringing an extra dimension to the fixture.

"All derbies are big now, that is the nature of the landscape," said Ferguson.

"The impetus City now have - they have a huge squad of players and the financial power to attract some of the best footballers in the world - actually changes the focus of the derby these days.

"The talking point isn't so much the actual game but the dynamics of how Manchester City have changed football and what we do to compete with that."

Tue, 10/04/2011

Liverpool have been difficult opponents to overcome in recent seasons though, with Dirk Kuyt bagging a hat-trick in last term's corresponding fixture.

"We have been poor there of late," said Ferguson.

"On a couple of occasions we have been out-fought by them, which is disappointing. The atmosphere plays a part. Every time we go there it is as if it's the biggest game of the century."

Man Utd boss Ferguson: Team spirit key to success

Mon, 10/03/2011

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson says building team spirit is key to his success.

Ferguson has helped United to dominate English football and claims his success is down to creating a mentality that is geared more towards the collective effort than individual reward.

He said: "It's all about team spirit.

"In a match, I only need eight of my players to be on top form. If the other three aren't up to it, it's not €serious. The other eight do the work for them.

"There has only been six matches where I've had all 11 players perform at their very best. It's like swallows. They always fly together in a group, in a V formation, and those at the front do the majority of the work. And they alternate regularly.

"If one swallow flies out of formation, two others go to get him and bring him back into the group. It's the same in my teams - sacrifice, friendship, and the giving of oneself to the team."

Mon, 10/03/2011

Welbeck scored twice in the draw with FC Basle.

"For players to score goals in this competition is really important, both to improve and find the confidence in their quality," said Capello, who was due to name his squad for the Montenegro encounter on Sunday evening.

"It is the same when you play with the national team.

"When you play in the Premier League, you can score but the whole thing is really normal."

Man Utd legend Neville: Man City must not lose heads over Tevez affair

Mon, 10/03/2011

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has urged Manchester City fans not to "lose their heads" over the Carlos Tevez affair.

He explained in the Mail on Sunday: "There is no need to panic and get caught up in a media frenzy.

"They have a chance of becoming Premier League champions, which would be their first League title for 43 years; they are still in the Champions League for the first time; and they have some great players producing some fantastic football.

"While all around are losing their heads, it may just be worth thinking back 13 years to when they were in League One.

"Crises such as this are all part of the journey they're on. When you choose speed over patience, you have to accept it and get on with the job.

"If they can do that, then one day, if they have achieved sustained success, they will be in a position to ensure that the team is the dominant force at the club, rather than any star player."

Oct 3, 2011

The former Korea international got a full game for the Red Devils and capped it off by setting up Danny Welbeck's goal, while Jung Jo-Gook looked good in France
EPL: Park Ji-Sung of Manchester United celebrating against Arsenal
Park Ji-Sung made his first start of the Premier League season for Manchester United on Saturday in their 2-0 win over Norwich.

The Korean veteran, who had only made two substitute's appearances in the league this term, capped his day with a fine assist for Danny Welbeck's 87th-minute goal.

Park started the game on United's left flank and was industrious but struggled to get on top of Canaries defender Kyle Naughton.

Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson switched Park into a more central position in the second-half and he improved there, enjoying the space which opened up as Norwich inevitably tired.

Park's finest moment came on 87 minutes when he cleverly raced into a pocket space behind the Norwich defence, exchanging passes with Welbeck who finished it off from close range.

In France's Ligue 1, former FC Seoul striker Jung Jo-Gook was handed his first start since moving to Nancy on loan and he was dangerous throughout in their 1-1 draw with Evian.

Jung produced a superb throughball for Benjamin Moukandjo on 29 minutes, however he failed to convert the opportunity in a one-on-one situation.

Barely a minute later, Jung fired in a near-post snapshot which was well saved by Evian keeper Bertrand Laquait. Jung would eventually be replaced on 75 minutes after an encouraging display.

Produced an encouraging display for Nancy, almost scoring in the first-half, in his maiden start for his new club.

Park Chu-Young (Arsenal): Was an unused substitute as the Gunners lost the North-East London derby 2-1 to Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday.

Ji Dong-Won (Sunderland): Came off the bench on 82 minutes as the Black Cats drew 2-2 with West Bromwich on Saturday.

Ki Sung-Yueng (Celtic): Played a full game for the Glaswegians whose title hopes took a major hit after a 2-0 loss to Hearts in Scotland's Premier League on Sunday. Ki was one of Celtic's better players, linking the midfield with attack, but couldn't create anything clear-cut for his side.

Cha Du-Ri (Celtic): Despite being called up by Cho Kwang-Rae for the national team, was still out injured as the Hoops lost to Hearts.

Son Heung-Min (Hamburg): Was relegated to the bench behind Mladen Petric and Jose Paolo Guerrero in Hamburg's clash with Schalke in the Bundesliga on Sunday. With the scores at 1-1, Son replaced Guerrero on 65 minutes but Klaas-Jan Huntelaar soon scored the winner on 73 minutes. Son couldn't help his side find a response.

Koo Ja-Cheol (VfL Wolfsburg): Came off the bench as a 69th-minute substitute for Josue, with his side chasing the game at 2-1 down to Bayer Leverkusen. Ultimately he couldn't make much influence as Wolfsburg lost 3-1 on Saturday.

Yun Ju-Tae (FSV Frankfurt): Did not feature as FSV won 3-1 at Alemmania Aachen in Germany's 2.Bundesliga on Friday.

Nam Tae-Hee (Valenciennes): Started and played 57 minutes but didn't have much to work with as his side slumped to a 2-0 loss to Lorient and dropped down to 19th on the French Ligue 1 table.

Suk Hyun-Jun (FC Groningen): Wasn't in the matchday squad as Groningen stunned Ajax 1-0 in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday.

Kim Nam-Il (Tom Tomsk): Was absent as Tom Tomsk went down 2-0 at home to Rubin Kazan in Russia's Premier League on Sunday.

Park Joo-Ho (FC Basel): Put in a full shift, after his impressive performance in midweek against Manchester United, as Basel eased past Servette 3-0 in the Swiss Super League on Saturday.

Sun, 10/02/2011

Anderson powered home a close-range header before Danny Welbeck turned in Park Ji-sung's cut-back for his fifth goal of the season.

Man Utd midfielder Anderson feels in best form of career

Sun, 10/02/2011

Anderson feels he's in the best form of his Manchester United career.

The midfielder struck in yesterday's 2-0 win over Norwich City.

He told United Review: "Yes, you can say it’s been my best start because I’ve never played say, five or six games, consecutively, at the beginning of a season. It’s been great to stay in the side and help make a big contribution. We’ve played very well as a team so far, and even when the boss has changed things, the players that have come in have done well and we’ve continued to play good football."

Anderson credits his form to having a full preseason.

"It was so important, because I’ve never had one full pre-season at the club. It’s my first one in four years here and I’ve really noticed the difference. In the past I’ve had a lot of injuries, but this year I feel fine, and I know I will get better. I felt good going into the season, but in a few more weeks, with more games, I know I will feel even stronger."

Anderson: Every Man Utd midfielder stepping up in Scholes absence

Sun, 10/02/2011

Manchester United ace Anderson says all the midfielders are stepping up after Paul Scholes' retirement.

Anderson has been highlighted as the most likely to fill the void.

He told United Review: "All of our midfielders feel extra responsibility now because Scholesy was a fantastic player. I learnt a lot from him. He was amazing to play with. It’s hard to achieve what Scholes did, but my aim is to follow what he did for the team.

"I have grown up a lot since I joined the club and things have gone well so far this season, but I still don’t feel like I’m first choice. I know I have to work hard every single day for my place in the team because there are so many quality players in my position… Fletch, Carrick, Cleverley, Giggs, Gibbo... I know that I have to keep improving in training so I’m ready for each game."

Anderson loves playing with Cleverley in Man Utd midfield

Sun, 10/02/2011

Manchester United midfielder Anderson hopes Tom Cleverley returns quickly to full fitness.

Anderson admits he's enjoyed playing with Cleverley in midfield this season.

He told United Review: "Tom is an amazing player who has great quality. Sometimes players go out on loan and it doesn’t work out, but Tom has learnt so much from the experience and come back strong.

"All the midfielders bring something different to the team – it’s great for the boss to have so many combinations."

Man Utd defender Jones: Norwich victory stuff of champions

Sun, 10/02/2011

Manchester United defender Phil Jones felt victory over Norwich City was the stuff of champions.

The Canaries made life difficult for the hosts on a hot afternoon at Old Trafford and Jones needed to show his class in defence on a couple of occasions with vital interceptions.

"It was a difficult game," he conceded to MUTV. "Norwich came here with a game-plan and stuck to it. It made it difficult for us to break them down but we showed signs of champions today in getting two goals late on. It's a big win for us.

"As champions, football fans expect you to turn up and be the best every week but we know football isn't like that and it was proved today. Norwich's game-plan worked well for them before we broke them down in the end. They made it difficult and we had to be patient, that's what the manager said at half-time - move the ball quicker but be patient.

"They're dangerous with a few good players up front who are sharp and lively. We had to watch out for that - perhaps I was needed too many times, when I wasn't expected to be, but that's what I'm there for.

"It's been difficult not having a settled back-four all season but all the lads are capable of switching around and it again shows the sign of champions, coming into positions and still proving you're good enough."

Man Utd boss Ferguson: Four more years for me

Sun, 10/02/2011

Ferguson, 70 on New Year’s Eve, will mark 25 years at Old Trafford next month.

“I feel good. But when I do leave, I will leave in place a strong young team that will continue to succeed for my successor.”

Welbeck happy to again get on Man Utd scoresheet in Norwich win

Sun, 10/02/2011

Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck was delighted with his goal in victory over Norwich City.

Speaking to MUTV afterwards, he was asked about the upcoming clashes with Liverpool andManchester City after the international break.

"It's a good base for us," he said of the top place in the Barclays Premier League table. "We're looking to work on that and build from there. Hopefully we'll get as many three points as possible. Every single game - week in, week out.

"I think we're all looking forward to the upcoming games, as are our fans. It's going to be a big weekend when have the derby, for the whole city as well, and we're all looking ahead to it."

Welbeck knows competition for places is fierce but he's done his prospects no harm with another valuable contribution against awkward opponents on Saturday.

"I'm delighted," he said. "I got two goals in midweek but it was a disappointing result. So I'm pleased to get the last goal today as well. It's all I can do really, if I'm on the bench and am called upon, I'm just looking to make an impact and that's what I did today.

"We were delighted to get the two goals in the end. It was frustrating but you know what to expect. We're Man United and we've a never-say-die attitude so we kept creating chances and managed to tuck a couple away."

Man Utd defender Jones proud of comparisons with Edwards

10/02/2011

Manchester United defender Phil Jones is flattered with comparisons with legend Duncan Edwards.

Since his arrival at Old Trafford, some have suggested Jones is similar in style to Edwards.

"It's brilliant for me to even be considered as being a player who could become as good as Duncan Edwards was," Jones told the Daily Telegraph.

"It is flattering and, for young lads like myself and my team-mates to be compared to great young players of the past, it is an amazing feeling.

"People have told me about Duncan, facts and figures about him, but I obviously know what he means to this club.

"When you come into training in the morning, knowing that people are talking about you in the same breath as players of the Busby era, it is fantastic, but I can't let it affect me. I have to play my own game and continue to do what I have been doing so far.

"I wanted to come here and play. I didn't want to come from playing every week at Blackburn to becoming a bit-part player at United, but I knew I probably had to do that at the start.

"I wanted to come to United because I felt that the club was right for me, so if I had to wait, I was prepared for it.

"One of my strong points is that, no matter what anyone says about me, it will not affect me, it's because I believe in my ability and what I can achieve.

"I know I am good enough to be here, otherwise the manager wouldn't have paid the money he spent to bring me to the club."
