Manchester City defender Micah Richards admitsManchester United deserved to win the Community Shield.
City have been grouped with United,Chelsea and Arsenal as genuine title challengers but Richards was quick to warn his team-mates not to get carried away before a ball has been kicked.
“It was very disappointing,” Richards told the Manchester Evening News.
“I didn’t think it was like a usual derby. There were no flying tackles.
“I don’t know, we just didn’t seem to get going. We didn’t really seem to create much even though we went 2-0 up before half-time.
“We didn’t come out of the blocks at all.
“As much as it pains me to say it, United were the better team.
“It’s an outstanding time to be at City with the way things are going. It’s exciting. But it was a bit of a wake-up call for us.
“People know what we can do but maybe we got a little bit ahead of ourselves.”
