Manchester United - David Gill says any more signings are unlikely

As transfer deadline day fast approaches, the final week of the window is a notoriously busy period for many clubs, managers, players, and, lest we forget, agents, up and down the country.

However, Manchester United seem to have bucked that trend, having got their business done early, chief executive David Gill has ruled out the possibility of any late moves in the market before August 31.

After adding the likes of David De Gea, Ashley Young and Phil Jones, Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson is confident the squad he has assembled for the 2011-12 campaign is good enough to challenge on all fronts.

One rumour that won't seem to go away though, is the on-off transfer of Inter Milan's Wesley Sneijder - the Dutch ace pinpointed as the man to fill the void left by the recently retired Paul Scholes.

But Gill maintained a firm stance when questioned by Sky Sports about the chances of any further activity.

"I don't think there will be another arrival," he said. "We've looked at various players but we're very comfortable with our squad. We've made some great additions in the summer and we've got a young, vibrant squad.

"We look forward to a great season now as, I'm sure, will a lot of other clubs. A lot have strengthened, in England in particular, but we feel we're well equipped for the months ahead.

"We'll progress now and I'm sure Alex will get the best out of the players over the season."
