SIR ALEX FERGUSON DISPLAYS ANGST

27th August 2011

SIR ALEX FERGUSON yesterday accused the FA of treating Manchester United “like s**t”.

The seething Scot made a surprise public outburst after learning that up to eight of his players could be called up by England for next week’s Euro 2012 qualifier in Bulgaria.

Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Michael Carrick could be joined in the squad by Ashley Young, Phil Cleverley.

Fuming Fergie believes the Premier League cham- pions deserve credit from the FA rather than a string of charges, fines and bans, which has been the norm in past seasons.

He said: “It is fantastic. The FA may realise who has produced more players for their country than any other club in the world.

"Maybe they will get some joy from it and realise how important we are to England, instead of treating us like s**t.

“I am pleased for the players – they are outstanding.”

In June, United chief  executive David Gill (right) claimed the FA had singled out the club for “harsh” punishments.

“There were some poorish decisions that wouldn’t have necessarily hit others – the actual punishments were harsh,” said the FA board member.

“We’re possibly being caught up in being one of the biggest clubs and the (F A ’ s) Respect agenda being there.

“What better way to demonstrate the authorities are being tough than by hitting one of the biggest clubs the hardest?”

The FA responded to rant, but are not expected to take any action against the United chief have not Fergie’ s latest rant, but are not expected to take any action against the United chief.
