In the end, a deal never eventuated for Sneijder - much to the disappointment of United fans around the world.
This morning, Sneijder tweeted: "Thanks for all the support coming from all over the world! I will stay with Inter this season.
"I respect all fans of Man Utd, who have supported me during the transfer window. I am a winner. I will make you all proud of me this season."
