Rooney struck twice in victory against Bulgaria on Friday.
After starring in Sofia, he said: “You can see that I have a rapport with the fans.
“What happened in South Africa happened. But I am sure that the fans see for themselves that when I play I give 100 per cent.
“The fans were great again against Bulgaria and I really would like to thank them for their incredible support.
“But I have always loved playing for England – and I’ll keep on playing for my country until someone tells me that I can’t.”
