Ex-Man Utd, Liverpool star Ince sickened by lack of England commitment

08.09.11

Former Manchester United and Liverpool star Paul Ince has questioned the commitment of England's players.

The former Three Lions captain reckons players no longer consider it a privilege to play for their country — and says fans are too quick to criticise.

The ex-Manchester United midfielder said: "We're giving out caps like confetti.

"Playing for England used to be the pinnacle of your career. Now it's not that important as we have the Champions League and Premier League.

"If you get called up, you should make sure you're there."

And he slated the crowd, saying: "I can't remember from my time fans singling out a certain England player to boo or have a go at. It kind of sickens me."
