But the goal-shy Spaniard impressed in the Champions League win over Bayer Leverkusen, setting up both goals in a 2-0 win.
And now Blues boss Andre Villas- Boas is ready to throw him in at Old Trafford.
Didier Drogba has been ruled out of the game due to complications following his recent concussion.
It is likely that Nicolas Anelka will also be back in attack to partner Torres.
