West Bromwich Albion bossRoy Hodgson is moving for released Manchester Unitedmidfielder Owen Hargreaves.
The Sun says Hodgson is busy planning for next season and wants to open talks with the free agent over a pay-as-you-play deal.
Hargreaves, 30, is seeking a new club after Manchester United released him at the end of last season following long spells on the sidelines with knee problems.
In four years at Old Trafford he made just 27 first-team appearances.
But the Baggies are keen to give him another crack at the top flight, with Hodgson hoping to hold talks with the midfielder this week.
Albion flew out to California yesterday for their pre-season training camp and could meet Hargreaves in the States.
Leicester chief Sven Goran Eriksson has already admitted he is also considering an offer for the former England international, who collected 42 caps.
