Ferguson: No deal for Sneijder
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has denied any interest in Wesley Sneijder amid reports of a £35million deal being close.
Ferguson has been reading English press reports the Inter Milan star has agreed terms with the Old Trafford club, but the United boss claims there is no truth in the rumours."I keep reading about this, there's absolutely nothing at all to that [reports of United's interest in the player]," he told ESPN Soccernet Press Pass. "First of all I don't think Inter are prepared to sell him anyway.
"You get conjecture and you get speculation every week in newspapers unfortunately. And we have to answer these for some reason - why, I don't know, but we have to find a reason without adding insult to any particular club, or embarrassing any particular player. There's nothing we can do about it."
Reports had suggested that United chief executive David Gill has been in Milan thrashing out a deal with club and player, but United have since confirmed that Gill was heading to Zurich for a European Club Association meeting.
