Sunderland have ended their pursuit of Manchester Unitedmidfielder Darron Gibson.
The Mail on Sunday saysSunderland have pulled out of the deal to sign Gibson from Manchester Unitedafter the midfielder refused to drop his £40,000-a-week wage demands.
Chairman Niall Quinn ran out of patience with the long-running negotiations with Gibson's agents and has decided against reuniting him with former team-mates John O'Shea and Wes Brown on Wearside.
A fee of £12million was accepted for the trio and Gibson had appeared the keenest of them, saying how much he wanted to work with former United defender Steve Bruce, theSunderland boss.
