Ferguson s picking up the 2011 award for Ethics in Sport presented by the Tor Vergata University in Rome.
The award is in its 10th year and Dino Zoff and Michel Platini are former winners. The commission chose Ferguson as a leading example for youngsters to respect fair play and honesty - on and off the field - with his dignified response to the Champions League final defeat at Wembley cited as a glowing illustration of good sportsmanship.
