Man Utd legend Neville: Current Premier League best we've EVER seen

01 Jan 2012

Manchester United legend Gary Neville feels the Premier League has never been better.
Neville wrote in the Mail on Sunday: "Players used to retire, become pundits and say how things were much better in their day. But I honestly think the reverse. A new generation of players has emerged in the last few months and, with the influx of top-quality stars from abroad, they are making this possibly the best Premier League season ever.
"Never before have so many points been accumulated by the top-six teams at this stage of the season. Only the year in which Chelsea won the League, in 2005, comes close.
"That statistic tells you that the top six is stronger than it’s ever been and though it looks like it may come down to a duel for the title — Tottenham are hanging on in there but have to feel the title will end up in Manchester — the strength of the chasing pack is unparalleled.
"The fact two teams out of TottenhamArsenalChelsea and Liverpool will miss out on Champions League football, something that would have massive implications for the clubs in question, is an intriguing sub-plot to the title race."
