Manchester United legend Gary Neville has urged Manchester City fans not to "lose their heads" over the Carlos Tevez affair.
He explained in the Mail on Sunday: "There is no need to panic and get caught up in a media frenzy.
"They have a chance of becoming Premier League champions, which would be their first League title for 43 years; they are still in the Champions League for the first time; and they have some great players producing some fantastic football.
"While all around are losing their heads, it may just be worth thinking back 13 years to when they were in League One.
"Crises such as this are all part of the journey they're on. When you choose speed over patience, you have to accept it and get on with the job.
"If they can do that, then one day, if they have achieved sustained success, they will be in a position to ensure that the team is the dominant force at the club, rather than any star player."
