Manchester United bossSir Alex Ferguson can see the club's culture being shaped byWayne Rooney in the near future.
Ferguson says Rooney will now emerge as the club's major leader.
Ferguson told the People: "Gary [Neville] and Paul [Scholes] had the respect of the dressing room. But I can see Rooney becoming one of the elder statesmen now, he said. I can see Wayne accepting that role.
"He doesn’t worry about criticism or the responsibility too much and he has great energy. He’s hit the ground {running out here and he’s been doing really well in training.
"They all have but Rooney has been working his socks off."
