British rowing legend Steven Redgrave is willing to help Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher over his chronic illness.
Redgrave suffers from the same inflammatory bowel condition as the Manchester United midfielder.
Scotland skipper Fletch, 27, faces an indefinite period out.
Redgrave, 49, said: "I've already spoken to him. In some ways you feel very isolated when a problem drags on for a long period.
"You feel you are the only person in that situation.
"It was not to put his mind at rest but to let him know he has someone else in the sports world who has gone through that situation.
"I've given him my number to contact me any time.
"He seemed relatively positive. It's a condition he has been struggling with for quite a while."
