Manchester United have left the door open again to chasing Manchester City after being pegged back 4-4 by Everton today.
In an amazing encounter, United surrendered a 4-2 lead to draw 4-4 with the Toffees.
Nikica Jelavic had given the visitors a deserved lead with his sixth goal in six games for the visitors.
But Wayne Rooney responded by nodding home Nani's superb cross five minutes before the break, his 32nd goal of the season.
After halftime, United found a moment of inspiration after Nani had shown admirable desire to outjump Phil Neville on the edge of the area.
Danny Welbeck collected the loose ball, took advantage of Johnny Heitinga's rash challenge to step inside the Dutchman, then curled a superb shot into the top corner.
The stadium erupted, and when Welbeck fed Nani a couple of minutes later and he coolly chipped the advancing Howard, the victory looked secure.
However, when Tony Hibbert crossed once more, Marouane Fellaini met it with a first-time volley that flew past David De Gea.
Rooney then responded with his second of the day, turning in a Nani cross to make it 4-2.
But the visitors kept coming as Jelavic nicked in to make it 4-3 before Steven Pienaar converted Fellaini's lay off on 85 minutes to make it 4-4.
