Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson says Ben Amos deserved his chance against Stoke City.
Amos kept a clean sheet for the 2-0 win.
"Amos has been agitating for his opportunity for quite a while and we wondered about sending him out on loan," revealed Ferguson.
"But it's not easy when you're in Europe. You need three keepers. Ben did very well the other night.
